RESPOND TO STUDENT POST kristie post I am most attracted to Impression in this period of Modern art. Impressionism artwork is a style that is designed to create subtle moods and impressions. I love the bright colors and the distinction of light and the different shadows throughout impressionism paintings.  The Impression Sunrise by Claude Monet is one of my favorites.  Fishing vessels sail from the port of Le Havre toward pale orange rays of the sun, mixed with dirty gray smoke giving the picture clarity.  It is like you can feel the atmosphere through the painting with the wind indicated by the smokestacks and the choppy water.
