The Performance of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) BUMN Minister Erick Thohir said that 90% of BUMN performance was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. He explained that there were three BUMN (SOEs – State-Owned Enterprises) problems in 2020, namely financial performance, managerial reshuffling, and the importance of monitoring the performance of BUMN directors. According to him, the condition of Covid-19 has affected performance. Therefore, BUMN have taken a number of steps to survive, such as reducing25% capital expenditures at PLN or debt restructuring in the other companies. In addition, BUMN continues to look for the best talents to fill the posts of the board of directors in order to get the best top management. In doing so, while dealing with Covid-19 or handling the economy, BUMN companies can still run optimally. Third, BUMN top management should improve performance. For example, underthe Deputy Minister there are several matters related to the community, namely energy, food, fertilizer, and others. Therefore, they should work hard in time of this tough situation. Question 4- Situation 2 (25%) At present, countriesaround the world have announceda reduction in fuel consumption and a reduction in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and the implementation of electric vehiclesby 15-100% of the total vehicles in circulation. It is estimated that by 2040 there will be 49 million units of electric vehicles or about 50% of the total world automotive demand. Several manufacturers have started to shift their conventional vehicle production lines to electric vehicles, which is between 20-50% of their total production. Therefore, BUMN Ministry has formed an electric vehicle (EV) battery holding company, called Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC). a consortium consisting of four state-owned enterprises, namely PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminum (Persero), PT Aneka Tambang Tbk, PT Pertamina (Persero), and PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara. IBC plans to partner with other companies, most notably China’sCATL and South Korea’s LG Chem, the world’s top two EV battery producers, to establish joint ventures to create an end-to-end EV battery supply chain in Indonesia. By 2022 or 2023, IBC will start producing batteries domestically.
